There are two main airports that service the city of Rome and they are Fiumicino Airport and CiampinoAirport. Although Ciampino Airport is the smallest of the two airports in Rome, it is actually the closest airport to the city.
Ciampino Airport is located approximately 15 klms to the South of the city, which makes transfers to and from the airport to the centre of Rome very easy. Ciampino International Airprt, has certainly become more popular with travellers, as it offers a cheaper option than flying into Fiumicino Airport.
Transfers:
There are a number of options for transfers to and from the airport and they are public transport, shuttle bus services, car hire and taxis. Each form of transport has its advantages and disadvantages and it simply is down to personal preference and budget as to which form of transfer you choose.
Public Transport:
Public transport is a popular choice with passengers arriving at or departing from Ciampino Airport, as it offers a very affordable way of getting to and from the airport, especially if you are travelling alone or on a budget. There are local bus services that run at regular times throughout the day and you can catch the buses from outside the main terminal building.
Trains:
There is no direct rail link to Ciampino Airport and if you are wanting to catch the train to your final destination, you will need to make your way to the train station in the centre of Ciampino. There are regular bus services that run from ciampino Airport to Ciampino train station and then from the train station to the airport.
Car Hire:
Car hire is a popular choice with passengers, as it provides a quick and convenient form of transfer and also means you have transport for the duration of your stay.

There are several companies that now provides shuttle bus services from the airport to the centre of Rome. The shuttle bus services, are a great way to get to and from the airport and run at regular times throughout the day. The shuttle bus services, are normally scheduled to coincide with flight arrivals and departures.
Taxis:
Taxis are a great way to reach your final destination, as
they provide you with a quick and convenient form of transfer. However, taxis
from the airport to Rome are probably one of the most expensive forms of
transfer but if there are several people travelling in your group, where the
cost can be shared, then it can work out ok. Taxis are located outside the main
